One of my favorite shows is Planet Earth on Discovery HD. In the “Pole-To-Pole” episode, the Superb Bird of Paradise of New Guinea does the most insane courtship dance I’ve ever seen. He’s so cool…he’s like the Samuel L. Jackson slash John Travolta of the bird species.

I love these birds. Ever see the bowerbird? It too is amazing. It builds decorative bowers to attract females. It even builds them with little walkways. Then it decorates everything with all sorts of things…like hundreds of shells, leaves, flowers, feathers, stones, berries, pieces of glass, you name it.
The male spends hours carefully sorting & arranging his personal collection, with each object in a specific place; if an object is moved while he is away he will put it right back in its original place! Essentially, they’re obsessive compulsive. But man are they a hoot to watch!
Shine on,
Aaron
