8 Things You Don’t Know About Derrich

Shawn Knight, Ed Lau, and The Everyday Weekender recently tagged me in their “8 Facts…” posts. I’ve been quite amuzed by these, and surprised by some — definitely interesting reads. In this meme, bloggers share 8 personal facts about themselves. Then, 8 other bloggers are tagged to continue the fun.
- Each player must post these rules first.
- Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
- People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
- At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
- Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.
In no particular order, here are 8 random things you don’t know about me…and may not want to:
- I learned to play the piano by ear when I was 5. I took lessons until I was about 15. You would never know if I sat in front of a piano. I’m ridiculously out of practice, but want to learn again.
- I played college football for Southwest Texas State University (now called Texas State)…a Division I-AA program. I was a quarterback. Don’t bother Googling me for that reason. The only things that turn up are my blog and some pics of me drag racing my old car. Trust me. I’ve tried.
- The first concert I ever attended was KISS…when I was 12. And they wore the makeup.
- I’m the webmaster for my favorite rap group, UGK. Have no idea who they are? Think Big Pimpin, and the latest collaboration with Outkast, International Players Anthem. Now if only I can get the U2.com job.
- I went to an all-boys college prepatory high school. I used to be smart, but then I met girls.
- My secret career path desire is to become an actor. I’m not real sure how likely that could be. Maybe you guys can give me some critique by watching me in a spoof of The Office.
- I’m the O.G. — Original Germexican. Not this guy, but he’s good people.
- I love karaoke.

That’s awesome you played the piano…My mother made my brother and I get lessons for about 4 years when we were younger. We didn’t like it and never practiced, but lately I’ve wanted to learn how to play.
Were you on scholarship for football? Why didn’t you keep playing?!?

Yep. Went to University of Tulsa my freshman year…transferred to Southwest Texas the following. Why didn’t I keep playing (as in “The League”). Let’s just call it lack of opportunities.
