“New” BlogCatalog Adds Functionality & Promotes Interaction

BlogCatalog made “hundreds of changes to the site” that seem to focus on even more on interaction between its members. The more notable updates include:

• Complete Visual Redesign. The new look required only minimal changes, but the result is a much cleaner look…and a bit more organization of its functions within your dashboard, which is nice.
• Shout-to-Shout. This upgrade gives users a better picture of shoutbox conversations.
• BlogCatalog Broadcasts. Broadcasts allow users to send mass messages to your BlogCatalog friends. If you use MySpace, it is very similar to sending a bulletin. Not spammy at all.
• Special Features. BlogCatalog Supporters (such as myself) get frequent thumbshot updates, access to beta features, elimination of ads, online community integration including twitter, de.licio.us, last.fm, and digg (good idea, guys *wink*wink*), and featured blog exposure.
  

  

• BlogCatlog Help. A new Help page makes finding the answer to BlogCatalog issues much easier…a FAQ of sorts. FAQing genius, guys!
• UTF-8 Encoding. BlogCatalog features blogs in dozens of languages. Encoding has been updated to UTF-8 to make translations easier.
