Last year, some friends and I ventured off to Key West in search of fun and sun. While in the airport, I ran into some family friends who were en route to Jamaica. I’ve never been. And when we saw each other again several weeks after our rencounter…after hearing about how much fun their family had…planning a trip to Jamaica found its way toward the top of “places I’d like to visit”. Clear water, all-inclusive accommodations, and a vibrant culture are just a few reasons I could think of to head down there sometime. They even have golf courses…10 to be exact. Lucky for me, I shot a 72 on the front nine recently, so golf will definitely be last on my “things to do while in Jamaica” list. If you’ve ever been to Jamaica, share your thoughts and suggestions. I’m all ears.

I guess this is the reason they tell you NOT to dunk on these playground rims. Regardless, this kid almost gets his head smashed under the weight of a falling basketball goal doing his best Darvin Ham impression.

I received this in an email last week. I thought I’d share it with y’all.
Harold boarded a plane and took his seat. As he settled in, he glanced up and saw a beautiful woman boarding the plane. As fate would have it, she took the seat right beside his.
Eager to strike up conversation, he blurted out “Business trip or pleasure?”
She smiled and said, “Business. I’m headed to the Annual Nymphomaniacs of America Convention in Boston”.
He gulped. Here was the most gorgeous woman he had ever seen sitting next to him, and she was going to a meeting of nymphomaniacs.
Struggling to maintain his composure, he calmly asked, “What’s your business role at this convention?”
“Lecturer,” she responded. “I use information that I have learned from my personal experiences to debunk some of the popular myths about sexuality.”
“Really?” he asked. “And what kind of myths are those?”
“Well,” she explained, “one popular myth is tht African-American men are the most well-endowed of all men, when in fact it is the Native American who is most likely to possess that trait.
Another popular myth is that Frenchmen are the best lovers when actually it is men of Jewish descent who are the best.
I have also discovered that the lover with the most stamina is the Southern Redneck.”
Suddenly the woman blushed. “I’m sorry,” she said, “I shouldn’t really be discussing all of this with you. I don’t even know your name.”
“Tonto,” he said, “Tonto Goldstein, but my friends call me ‘Bubba’.”

Quite frankly, I could care less. As an obsessed avid CNBC viewer, I’ve noticed that Maria has been doing all of the feature stories and big shows while Erin Burnett and Becky Quick share facetime with the telepromter on a fairly even keel.
Apparently, “Mousey” Maria has been complaining about all the attention Erin Burnett has been getting as of late. This is all according to an article in the New York Post on Page Six
Insiders say Bartiromo is in an uproar over her ravishing rival Burnett, who’s begun to upstage her at the business news channel.
An inside source tells Page Six the Money Honey has been fuming that curvy Burnett, in addition to her duties as anchor of “Street Signs” and co-anchor of “Squawk on the Street,” is getting substantial airtime on the “Today” show, which gives her a much bigger audience. “Maria is like, hey, why isn’t it me on the ‘Today’ show? She’s very jealous of all the attention Erin is getting,” our source said.
Hey, Maria. Erin is a hottie. It was only a matter of time before it happened. I mean what’s hotter than a beautiful woman that knows her assets? You can equate that to a woman that likes sports…or cars. Most guys love it, and I’m gonna go out on a limb here and assume mostly males watch CNBC. Its not that Maria isn’t unattractive…just not the hot commodity right now (man I’m on a roll). Don’t complain, Maria. I watch The Wall Street Journal Report with Maria Bartiromo. It is America’s #1 Financial News program…and it’s good.
The Ladies of CNBC
Opio at The Beef Jerky Blog posted his Top 10 List of The Beautiful Ladies of CNBC. Great list. Just a few things I’d change. He forgot two of the more attractive female anchors, Darby Dunn and #2 on my “list”, Melissa Francis, who graduated with honors from Harvard University with a bachelor of Arts degree. And Suze Orman? Gone. Sure she helps people become more financially responsible, but I can’t stand her.
You can check out the rest of the New York Post article on Page Six.

Naming a bar calls for a large amount of creativity and planning. I mean…it’s all about branding, right? Choose something catchy and unique. About 4 years ago when the thought of opening a bar first entered my mind, I probably filled up about 3 napkins with names I thought were catchy and unique. After all, its the name itself that is perhaps the greatest form of advertisement. However, you can’t just have a great name and attach it to an unrelated concept. A name like Bitter End doesn’t fit a martini/wine bar or ultra lounge, does it? That’s what those pretentious one-word names are for.
If I ever opened a bar, it would be a so-called neighborhood bar with live music. A place for a solid happy hour with co-workers, and a place for great friends to hang out together in the evening. I took the names on my napkin, and did a search for them on Google. I was shooting for unique. I didn’t want to copy a cool name that a hundred other bars had already taken. Only a handful of the names I wrote down returned fewer than 10 results…and luckily in different cities.
Becoming A Reality
Four years later, this pipe dream is becoming a reality. I have a business partner I trust with a similar concept of what this bar should be. Unfortunately, I didn’t have my napkins anymore. But I did remember the few that stood out.
My friend, Brian, owns a T-Shirt from the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. It is from the Rehab pool party on Sundays. I liked everything about the name, the logo (which features the “Rx” symbol), and the suggestive meaning behind the name itself. So, for a few days we were set on trying to make that name work. Then one night, I thought “Detox” would be neat with the “Rx” symbol as a watermark in the background. And then it came to me… Read the rest of this entry »
