On June 15th, Bob Barker’s farewell episode on The Price Is Right was aired. I can remember watching TPIR religiously as a kid. Ok…and in college. I even played a man obsessed with The Price Is Right in a Spoof of The Office video me and some friends produced for a company awards banquet. My favorite game was by far Cliff Hangers. No real reason other than I just thought the yodel song was kinda funny. I think Ed Lau might be obsessed with TPIR too. He beat me to the “Fairwell, Bob” punch.
What would you do if you had a chance to get on The Price Is Right? Philip Barrett waited 5 days in line to get into the show. At first, I couldn’t stand his disturbing Elijah Wood-like smile but I quickly warmed up to the guy after he kept getting slammed.
Canadian contestant, Dean Lindstrom takes a spill (video) on his way, but ends up with one of 76 cars given away. Anyway, in case you missed the finale, here are the first and second halves of the show for your viewing pleasure!
Part 1: The Price Is Right Finale
Part 2: The Price Is Right Finale
And, of course, who can forget Bob Barker’s brawl with Adam Sandler on Happy Gilmore? This segment was aired on May 17, 2007 during his 50 years in television special.
And if Rosie O’Donell replaces Bob Barker as the TPIR host, I’ll never watch it again. On the bright side, maybe Adam Sandler can arrange to punch her lights out in a movie…but do it for real. Oh well.
FAREWELL, BOB! YOU WILL BE MISSED!

I’m not big into the whole Amercian Idol/Got Talent scene, but I do watch the tryouts. Well Britain’s Got Talent contestant, Paul Potts, has worked at the Carphone Warehouse for 2 years. Prior to that, he worked the night shift stacking shelves. He might share dental plans with William Hung, but he blows him away on the mic. And Simon loved him; he actually smiled after he heard this guy sing. Anyway, this one is for my mom, who is a hardcore fan of both Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli. Maybe she’ll be buying Paul Potts albums soon.

I was all over the category board this week with my posts. So, I decided to stay consistent and share some posts from this week that I read. In keeping with the “all over” theme this week, here’s my regurgitation of miscellaneous overflow. (Sorry if you’re reading this before lunch).
Blain Reinkensmeyer over at Stock Trading 101 auditioned online to be the Next Internet Millionaire. Out of literally 100s of auditions, Blain made it into to the Top 50 Finalists. Be sure you head over and vote for Blain.
Andy Beard gives us yet another great post to bookmark with his SEO analysis. I’ve read a number of posts regarding the optimization of SEO. I find Andy’s thought process through permalink post structuring fascinating. I’ve always wondered the same thing, but simply shrug it off and move on.
NetBusinessBlog posted a list of John Chow look-a-like blogs. Luckily, I’ve only been told that once in the 9 months I’ve been blogging. I love cars, so it’s a no-brainer. Besides, my car can beat John’s car.
Just sayin’.
Speaking of car pictures in your header…and stuff…Derrich.com is getting ready for a little facelift. If you haven’t been to Nate Whitehill’s blog in awhile, check it out. He had a car in there at one point. At least he’s still got a road. Yes. I realize it’s symbolic…ish.
David Airey, a graphic designer in his own right, had his post, “World’s Best Logo Designers“, added to the Wikipedia page for Logo in the External Links section. Hey. Who cares if it’s gone by now (it’s not). Congrats to Dave!
Martin Reed over at Community Spark suggests that it doesn’t hurt to experiment with your blog. I couldn’t agree more. Trial and error has allowed me to discover what works and doesn’t work. And be sure to ask your readers. They’ll tell you. Jane May agrees with this concept as well.
The Everyday Weekender tells us why he’s a drunk and not a beer snob. Hey, EW. I don’t care what those test results show, you’re a beer snob in my book just for choosing the beers you did. Good little list. Now, I’m thirsty.
And congrats to Tony Parker and the San Antonio Spurs for winning its 4th NBA Championship!!!

Hey. It’s always exciting to see your team win especially in the NBA Finals. But I agree with most of the critics. This series is a…*yawn*…a bore. The lop-sided outcome has some talking about fixing the NBA Playoffs among other things. I’m just glad that this Finals matchup hasn’t gone unnoticed like those of the NHL. Who won that cup thingy again?
Don’t fret Spurs fans. I’m certainly not ceding to the idiots that continue to call the Spurs boring. Thanks to the exciting play by Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker throughout the season, there is no possible way even the most intent Spurs haters can say that any longer…since 2003 to be exact.
Take it from 6-time champion, Robert Horry, who says that this Spurs team is arguably the best of San Antonio’s four championship teams, but that they don’t compare to his 2001 Lakers squad.
What about Michael Finley? If anyone on this squad deserves a ring more, it’s him. Finley is ol’ reliable. He finds his stroke when it matters. In Game 5 of the Denver series, he sunk a franchise playoff-record 8 shots from beyond the arc. So, my mantra has become “Win For Fin!” since the start of the playoffs.

Don’t forget to download the Rob G Reppin My Block Spurs Remix and blare it in your car tonight. Everyone else will…including the 09er and Monte Vista mom mobiles.
GO SPURS GO!!! and let’s WIN FOR FIN!

This one hits home for me since Lil D has a set of these toys…grandma and mommy are checking even as I type. Seriously, though. What toy company still uses lead-based paint? Scratch that. Anyway, the recall involves wooden vehicles, buildings, and other train set components listed below.

15 Minutes of Fame? Johnny On The Spot, perhaps? Either way, I’ll take it. Last week, I posted a video of the Mississippi Braves Manager Meltdown. I posted the video Tuesday. By Wednesday, I was #1 for the search “Mississippi Braves Manager” (sans quotation marks) or some variation of that search in Google Trends, Google Blogsearch and Google Web Search. As of Monday evening, I am #2, #1, and #9, respectively.
For June 6th, that traffic translated into 27.94%, or 725, of my visits. Of course, traffic slowly tapered off as people stopped searching for it. Normally, I get about 400-600 visits per day. Not super awesome. But, my other huge traffic booster (totally unrelated) was for the Reppin My Block Spurs Remix, which is still #1 on Google, by the way.
In The News…
Friday morning on my way down to the beach for a fishing trip, my mom called to inform me that Derrich.com was mentioned in the paper. When I returned on Sunday evening, I saw that David King, a columnist for the San Antonio Express-News, had included Derrich.com in a list of blogs that mentioned the manager meltdown. According to King, it turns out that the maniac manager is from San Antonio…a graduate of Madison High School.

You can read the online version here. Unfortunately, none of the domains referred to on the newspaper’s website are actual links…or this could have resulted in even more traffic. The mention resulted in a small hiccup in Friday traffic. Hard to tell exactly how much of that was related to the article with no tracking. Like I said before…I’ll take it. Thanks for the mention, David. I’ll try to keep the one-liners coming.

While browsing PayPerPost for my next advertising/review opportunity, I came across one for some Los Angeles Criminal & DUI Lawyers. Interestingly enough, their website is keglawyers.com. I thought…”fitting”.
Kestenbaum, Eisner & Gorin, LLP is a Southern California criminal defense law firm, whose attorneys have combined criminal law experience of over 50 years. They exclusively practice criminal defense using “aggressive representation with compassion and integrity”. Potential clients include those charged with or being investigated for crimes, including general criminal offenses, both misdemeanors and felonies, DUI, white collar crimes, domestic violence, sex crimes, juvenile crimes, drug crimes, and theft.
I’m not sure about criminal defense attorneys, nor do I ever hope to need one. But these guys sound pretty qualified…and pretty serious. Unlike other firms, the KEG lawyers always meet directly with clients, not via an “office manager” or “paralegal”.
