Making The Rounds At The Bud Light Maxim Hookup

I remember thinking all day about where I would watch Game 4 of the Spurs/Cavs series…and then the phone rang. My friend, Eddie, was asking if I wanted to hit the “Maxim party tonight”. Uh…yeah. I decided to hunt down the casting calls online (here and here). Hey, it’s a Maxim party, so I was curious to see how Maxim was planning for this thing.
The plan is to throw 25 parties in 25 cities. Two weeks prior to each party, there were representatives out in the local bars handing out invites with an RSVP code that allowed you to register at the Maxim Hookup website.
I had a blast. They served free Bud Light…not normally my beer of choice, but beggars can’t be choosers, right? We somehow scored VIP passes, which helped us avoid waiting in line. Walking in, we were immediately greeted by staff that were flanked by 3 or so cameramen and women. A quick pose, and on through the mist hologram into the warehouse. Waterfall cages at each corner of the dancefloor. A bar on each side serving cold Bud Light. Big screens everywhere showing shots from the roving camera crew…and the Spurs game, of course.
Despite my camera shyness (and since no cameras were allowed inside), I decided to “live once” and participate in each of the opportunities provided. A round, velvet bed with 3 skantily clad women in one corner. Luckily those pictures haven’t popped up on the hookup website. Across the room was a photo booth where Irish waited outside for takers. Some people chose to take pictures with friends or significant others. I chose Irish. In fact, our efforts made the San Antonio video. Here’s a look.
Hey. She’s much better looking than Eddie anyway. I ran into a couple of old friends one of whom brought a female friend. I decided to coerce her into the photo booth as well. And voila…
We ended the evening by joining the Spurs celebration downtown. Then, we shut down Suede Lounge. Definitely a memorable evening.

We were given invites by a friend who happens to be a bar owner. He couldn’t make it. His loss.

What is the deal with the passes? do you have to register them online? I haven’t received a confirmation email back from them once I registered — as long as I have the card is that enough?
