Spyware Detection & Removal With Spy Sweeper

    June 10th, 2007 - 2 Comments »

Webroot Software issues quarterly reports called The State of Internet Security Report that provides an in–depth review and analysis of the most pressing computer and data security–related concerns. Last quarter, Webroot discovered that 1.7% (4.2 million) of 250 million URLs around the world harbor malware. According to the FBI, the organized nature, rapid growth, and severity of cybercrime has moved it to their number three priority behind only counter-terrorism and counter-intelligence.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) provides a list of clues that spyware is on a computer. Those include:

    • Barrage of pop-up ads
    • Hijacked browser — that is, a browser that takes you to sites other than those you type into the address box
    • A sudden or repeated change in your computer’s Internet home page
    • New and unexpected toolbars
    • New and unexpected icons on the system tray at the bottom of your computer screen
    • Keys that don’t work (for example, the "Tab" key that might not work when you try to move to the next field in a Web form)
    • Random error messages
    • Sluggish or downright slow performance when opening programs or saving files

Also included on the FTC’s list of recommended spyware tools is Spy Sweeper. Webroot Spy Sweeper is the most award-winning antispyware software.

Spy Sweeper is the most comprehensive anti-spyware solution available with continuous monitoring to stop spyware before it can attack. With advanced detection and removal capabilities for stubborn spyware, automatic defense updates, and FREE customer support, you can’t go wrong. And Spy Sweeper is Windows Vista compatible. Protect yourself today.

This is a good product. I use it myself and it initially found two different bad viruses on my system.
