Today, my favorite eMom (aka, First Lady of the Blogosphere), Wendy Piersall, provided a list of her online neighborhoods for her readers to visit.
Connecting with your readers through online neighborhoods has become a vital part to maintaining traffic and earning new readers. And Wendy is among the list of successful bloggers that beautifully executes the art of interaction. Social networking is changing the rules of the blogging game. When people get to contribute to something, they feel a sense of ownership. Ceteris paribus (thanks, Dr. Toles), is it ridiculous to say that a blogger with above average content that interacts with his or her readers is more likely to attract new readers than the best blogger (or hottest daddy blogger)? Hmm…well, I can’t think of any examples.
But still…
While meeting with the BlogCatalog crew last week, we discussed a few things they had planned for the site. One of these features includes a “My Communities” section where bloggers can promote their other online neighborhoods by username. Add that to the already potent lineup of features, and you’ve got social networking at its finest.

To add your other online communities to your BlogCatalog profile, click on the “Edit My Profile” link in the top right corner of your profile. Once you’re in your “Manage Your Blogs” section, scroll down to about the middle. You’ll find a list of online communities waiting for a username. Click “Update” and you’re finished.

Keep your eyes open for more updates from BlogCatalog. I’ve already got my popcorn in hand.

I didn’t know they had added this MUCH needed feature - I was just thinking the other day that there needs to be a social networking site to track all of my social networks!
They need to add a few more sites there - I’m going to drop Tony a line and tell him to add LinkedIn, Netscape, & Facebook.

Excellent post (dugg it), I really like what the folks over at blogcatalog are doing with the site, before it was a simple directory, now it’s a rock-solid, feature loaded, community site!
