NBA Playoffs — Top 5 Reasons Spurs Should Beat The Suns

As we go into Game 3 of the Spurs/Suns Round 2 showdown, these two find themselves back to the ol’ drawing board. Tied at 1-1, it’s anyone’s series with the advantage currently to the Spurs as they play 2 at home. Of course, in every San Antonian’s mind, the Spurs have everyone on the run.

So, to cater to the confidence of Spurs fans everywhere, I’ve complied a list of the Top 5 reasons the San Antonio Spurs should be able to take the Suns out in Round 2 of the 2007 NBA Playoffs.

5. Tim Duncan Earns 9th All-NBA First Team Honors. Ok, so this one is a questionable. After all, there are 2 Phoenix Suns players that made the list as well: Steve “Crazy-Eyes” Nash an Amare “Sweet Feet” Stoudamire. Timmy is a two-time MVP winner. Nash has 2 as well. Amare? Zero. But Tim has also won 3 championships along with MVP honors in each instance. Neither Nash nor Amare can say that.

4. Tony Soprano believes in the Spurs too. This season of the Sopranos finds Tony with a small gambling problem. Hey. At least he’s got faith in the Spurs. Doubters get whacked.

3. Amare Stoudawhiner. Talk about fuel to the fire…On Thursday, Stoudemire said Bruce Bowen tried to hurt him during the Suns’ 101-81 series-evening victory in Game 2 on Tuesday. He also called out Manu Ginobili and blasted the entire team as “dirty.”

“It was a purpose kick to the Achilles’ and he definitely tried to injure me.”

Bowen’s reply? “I saw the replay and it’s obvious I did clip him, but to kick him, that wasn’t the intention at all, … It was an unfortunate situation and I’m sorry that he feels that way. … I have a lot of respect for him, so I wouldn’t do that.”

As we know from the Joey Crawford incident, Tim Duncan isn’t afraid to say what’s on his mind. The great thing is he just plays better after such nonsense.

For whatever reason, I guess people don’t expect people to play hard. It’s not the regular season. We’re not going to let people walk through us.

2. Manu Ginobili gets booed by everyone. In the Spurs/Nuggets series, you couldn’t help but notice the boo’s let out by the Nuggets fans everytime Manu touched the ball. It looks like the honor has been continued by the Suns fans. Thank you, Suns fans, for adding fuel to Manu’s fire.
