Despite an adverse first half, Tim Duncan regained focus to lead the Spurs into a second half drive to stay in Game 4 against the hungry Denver Nuggets. Regardless of how hard Duncan tried to draw a foul, his efforts ended in missed shots and frustration. Once Duncan and the Spurs built momentum, Manu Ginobili added his magic touch to help close the Nuggets 10-point second half lead.
The turning point came when Bruce Bowen stole Steve Blake’s pass and traded passes with Ginobili to the other end of the court resulting in a Bowen jam just under the 3-minute mark. With less than 0:40 left in regulation, Tony Parker received an inbound pass, and fed Robert Horry who launched a 3-point strike at the 31.8-second mark. TNT’s Doug Collins articulated the thoughts of [Spurs] fans everywhere: “Are you kidding me?!?!?”. Nevermind that Big Shot Bob has made this shot on countless occasions in high-pressure situations. The same thought of disbelief goes through everyone’s mind initially. But then you realize this is why Horry has 6 championship rings and why he’s certainly NOT “too old” to be playing. Thanks again, Horry Hallelujah.
The Spurs go up on the Denver Nuggets in this first-round series 3-1. The Spurs will have the opportunity to close the series out this Wednesday back in San Antonio.
