    Kontera ContentLinkâ„¢ For Your Blog

    March 29th, 2007 - 6 Comments »

About a week ago, I was browsing MyBlogLog communities and came across a couple of blogs using in-text link ads. In-text link ads are basically online product placement based on the contextual relevancy between an advertiser’s brand and online content as explained by Kontera. They appear as underlined links on Derrich.com. And when you hover over them, voila…

Anyway, most of these blogs with the in-text link ads had less than 50 [Feedburner] subscribers and had only been around for several months. Based on pure assumption, I concluded that these blogs had less than 500k page views per month. Vibrant Media’s Intellitxt requires a blog must receive a minimum of 500k page views to qualify for its program…no exceptions. These blogs were using Kontera ContentLinkâ„¢. According to Kontera’s Publsihers’ Qualifications, your website must:

    • Generate more than 500,000 page impressions (not page views) per month.
    • Be content-rich with more than 50 words per page on the majority of the site.
    • Use English as the primary language.

So, I decided to give it a whirl. Actually, I clicked on an in-text link ad that redirected me to the Kontera website. :) I discovered that ContentLinkâ„¢ featured five unique ad formats including video and flash.

In the 7 days I’ve used ContentLinkâ„¢, I’ve earned more with that than I have with Google AdSense in 6 of those 7 days…oddly enough. I have noticed some odd keywords being hyperlinked with cookie cutter ads. While there isn’t currently an ad filter for ContentLinkâ„¢ in the user toolbox, you can filter a list of URLs and ads by customizing the code (upon acceptance, this ability will be demonstrated to you). These ads will no longer appear on your website. Otherwise, I’ve seen multiple image ads…no flash or video yet. Very cool stuff, and a great way to increase the revenue potential for your blog.

How Do I Get ContentLinkâ„¢ For My Blog?
The evil one himself, John Chow, has arranged for blogs that fall short of the usual requirements to take advantage of ContentLinkâ„¢ as an additional source of revenue. Simply fill out an application, and include the phrase “John Chow Kontera partnership” in the comments field.

Don’t worry about the field that ask for your page view. When you apply through this blog, your application is sent to my personal account representative. He will approve you based on your site content and not your traffic level.

I highly recommend that you take advantage of this window of opportunity. John Chow suggests that it might not last long.

Totally. I’m assuming my experience was not the normal occurence, but I could be wrong. Yesterday, Google AdSense won the battle…by alot.

You don’t need to use John Chow at all to get accepted by Kontera. He just pulled a fast one on everyone. The only thing his so-called “partnership” does is earn HIM commissions from all who sign up beneath him. Kontera accepts (and has been for a couple months) practically all small blogs, even those with hardly any traffic.

Actually, I used to really like John’s blog, but this latest trick of his was just a little too sneaky for my liking. Looks like Darren Rowse will always be the top blogger. He never attempts to mislead people in order to make a buck. John Chow’s Kontera thing only benefits him. And that’s sad.

Love your blog by the way.

Wowza. Well, while it makes sense (he’s evil)…I can’t blame him for trying to make a buck. Deceit is a four letter word no matter what form of media. I’m not ready to use it on John Chow. But I respect your opinion very much…esp the one about my blog. :)
