Notre Dame hosted its 1st Pro Day at its indoor practice facility on Sunday where roughly 100 NFL scouts and coaches watched Brady Quinn’s first active participation before the 2007 NFL Draft. Quinn, who bench pressed 29 reps of 225 (video) and scored a 29 on the Wonderlic Test at the 2007 NFL Combine, apparently impressed potential suitors. According to an article at NFL.com, Notre Dame Head Coach Charlie Weis best explained the format of Quinn’s workout.
“We threw everything people wanted to see,…. We put him through every throw that any NFL organization would want to see — from moving in the pocket, to moving from the pocket, to three-step, to five-step to seven-step. I think now they have enough information to make a critical evaluation, if they didn’t have enough on tape already.”
The Cleveland Browns and the Minnesota Vikings came in full force bringing their GMs along for the show as well. The Browns pick 3rd and the Vikings pick 7th…and both are in need of a QB. He did not run the 40-yard dash on Sunday, and will not run one until Notre Dame’s second Pro Day on March 22nd. Quinn’s stock has dropped since the 2006 NCAA season began, and his knee injury in the game against USC didn’t help matters either. No doubt, the boy is a haus. LSU’s JaMarcus Russell has become the Day 1 favorite for the 2007 NFL Draft. As I mentioned in a previous post, I’m a huge fan of Michigan State’s Drew Stanton despite a relatively disappointing senior season, and of University of Houston QB Kevin Kolb.
Five other schools also hosted a Pro Day today, 4 of which were from Texas schools: Miami (Fla.), SMU, Tarleton St., Texas A&M, and Texas Christian. You can find the results from those Pro Days as well as dates for remaining Pro Days on NFL.com.
Jake “The Snake” Plummer Retires
As I wrote this, I saw that the AOL Sports Blog reported that Jake Plummer Officially Announces Retirement. Plummer was traded from the Denver Broncos to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a mid-round draft pick on Friday. You can find an official letter from Jake on the Jake Plummer Foundation website.

I would like to see Brady Quinn go to Minnesota rather than Cleveland, but considering that Cleveland is #3 and Minnesota #7 in Draft Order, it probably won’t happen.
