Generate a List of MFA Sites For Your Competitive Ad Filter

January 3rd, 2007 - - Filled in: Blogging

Back in November, I read a great post by John Chow about using the competitive ad filter to increase AdSense earnings. John’s post provides detailed instructions on
how to navigate Google AdSense and insert the list of websites into your filter. Since I’ve added a list of MFA sites, my AdSense revenues have experienced a noticable increase in eCPM…and more importantly overall earnings.

So, I set out to find a site that had an updated list of MFA’s. I found AdsBlackList.com.

If you’re not familiar with term MFA (Made for Adsense), the shortest explanation is this: it’s a website with content that is primarily made of AdSense ads, or any other advertisement system. MFA webmasters pay good money to advertise their sites on Google AdWords which then serve their contextual ads on your own website(s) through the AdSense program.

Registration on AdsBlackList is currently free. Based on categories you select based on your site’s content, AdsBlackList will generate a list of MFAs for you to use. Google currently allows you to block 200 URLs. Hopefully this number will increase; however, Google makes a large amount of money from these MFAs. The likelihood the limit will be increased is pretty slim. I selected all of the categories and generated a list with the hopes that I’d get the top 200 URLs.

The only other way I can think of making more money with AdSense is to write about mesothelioma or a particular state’s lemon law. :) If you have any experiences with this or any other services, please share your experiences. It seems this is a constant battle.
